Alex Tew created Sock and Awe, allowing you to toss shoes at the President.You get 30 seconds to toss the footwear as he ducks, then you submit your score. The game was named after the military campaign named “Shock and Awe” which was meant to take care of Saddam Hussein. About 50 million shoes have already hit G. W. Now it’s your turn.

WOW: Wrath of the Lich King Launches Bigtime

Blizzard Entertainment certainly knows how to promote a product. The company announced that it sold 2.8 million copies of Wrath of the Lich King within the first 24 hours, beating the previous record in Jan. 2007, when they sold 2.4 million copies of The Burning Crusade. As we previously let you know, Blizzard opened doors at midnight at over 15,000 stores worldwide. Before the launch there were more than 11 million gamers. We expect that the amount will increase with the new expansion sales.

Remember when we told you about the woman who murdered her ex-‘s avatar on Maple Story? This story is even more bizarre. Amy Taylor met her husband David Pollard in a chatroom and married him in both Second Life and the real world. They had been together 3 years when she discovered his avatar having sex with other ones. She had even gone so far as hiring a virtual detective. When David said he didn’t love her anymore after being caught, Amy filed for divorce the next day. This is proof positive that if you are going to mess around with Internet dating/activities, expect to pay the consequences in real time.

WOW: Wrath of the Lich King Midnight Release

Get ready, hard core WOW players. The new Wrath of the Lich King expansion will be officially available in stores tomorrow, but midnight madness has set in. Copies will go for $39.99 for PC or Mac one second after midnight. There are also official launch events in NY, SF, Austin and Anaheim where you can enter a contest to win a Blizzard Entertainment signed copy. A Collector’s Edition will be available as well. Stardock Elemental: War of Magic

Players of Galactic Civilizations will be happy to know that the same company, Stardock, has announced that their new game, Elemental: War of Magic, will be out in Q1 2010. That seems way down the line, so if you cannot wait, you can play their public beta next June. The game is a strategic fantasy and has magic and lore incorporated. Players rule their own kingdoms and combine spells, exploration, adventure and interaction with others. Pre-order for $49.95 on Stardock’s site, with other information available there as well.

Xbox 360 Content License Transfer Tool now available

Looks like Microsoft has finally gotten around to attempting to fix the horribly, horribly broken Xbox 360 DRM model, which we have written about in the past here and here, with the release of the Xbox 360 Content License Transfer Tool. The video above, hosted by Major Nelson, shows off exactly how users go about consolidating all their licenses to a single Xbox 360 console. There are a couple of issues here though, and they need to be addressed - after all, if you are going to work on a tool to help your users, the help shouldn’t result in new problems.

Harmonix Brings Guitar Hero to iPod, Sorta

Those of you lurking around the iTMS Games section may have noticed a recent addition for a Guitar Hero-esque iPod game named Phase: Your Music is the Game. The nice thing, though, is that this game isn’t just a rip-off of the GH formula, but a clever new game designed by the folks at Harmonix (and thus released by MTV/Viacom). One really cool feature of the game, as well, is that the rhythm action takes place to music you have stored on your iPod. Get it? Your music IS the game.
Phase is currently on sale for $4.99 at the iTunes Music Store.
